An Effective Advocacy Tool: Media for Social Causes
In June 2013, Wheelock College gathered media managers, consultants, and film producers to the Global Challenges Conference as a way to share strategies on how to create and promote successful social causes for social good. The common message was that although technology has made promoting social causes a generally accepted practice, it is not something that is often or easily mastered. Professional panelists at the conference include filmmaker Alexandra Halkin of America’s Media Initiative and Deb Ellis, Associate Professor at University of Vermont.
The conference from June 19-22, 2013 was the cornerstone event commemorating Wheelock’s 125th anniversary and built on Wheelock’s mission and commitment to improve the lives of children and families, while advancing the College’s strategic goal to promote responsible and effective child- and family-focused research, policy, and practice around the world.
